Many credit unions and banks have had great success using our award-winning Web Hunt marketing system.  It uses your entire website as a "virtual game board" for a site-wide treasure hunt contest for your site visitors!  CU Web Hunt won a CUNA Diamond Award, a CUES Golden Mirror Award, and a CU Journal Best
Practices award in 2008, and continued to exceed our expectations in 2009.

This system is a great tool to increase exposure for website redesigns, re-branding and mergers, anniversaries, big loan sales, and basically anything you'd like to promote online.  It motivates site visitors to explore all around your website in search of interactive game pieces while displaying their progress on their own
personal game card.  Along the way they are exposed to all of your great rates and services as well as your brand and deeper site features.

CU Web Hunt can also gathers email addresses, encourage enrollment in e-services, and educate visitors in a fun engaging way.

Results That Speak For Themselves

In November 2009, Atlantic Financial Federal Credit Union ($71 million; 11,097 members; Hunt Valley, MD) ran a CU Web Hunt campaign with the goals of increasing page views among its online visitors, reaching out to a younger audience, and encouraging members and non-members to learn more about the credit union.  Through careful monitering of their results, they were surprised to learn that website page views actually increase in range from 102% to 921%, depending on the page – which in turn helped Atlantic Financial experience a rise in loan applications and new members.

The credit union’s increased numbers for membership and loans included a 68% increase in new members for July-September 2009 over the same two months in 2008. There was a 66% increase in new loan dollars for July-September 2009 over the same two months in 2008, resulting in $2,785,000 more in loans for the campaign months in 2009 than 2008.   Read all about Atlantic Financial's results here.

How Does it Work?
Site visitors are given clues as to where they can find 10 game pieces hidden on your website.  When they find a game piece, it interacts with the mouse cursor by 'coming to life' with an animation and showing a small info box.  These info box 'blurbs' can give information about the product on that page, the history of the financial institution, the theme of the hunt, or just about anything.  As players find each game piece, their game console displays progress and encourages them to continue hunting around your site until they have found all of them!

The promotion can last for as long as you like, and each player's progress is tracked and remembered by the system for the duration of the campaign. Once the player has found enough game pieces, they are entered into the sweepstakes for a prize giveaway.
